Tree Pruning

There are many reasons for Pruning, each cut has the potential to change the growth of the tree, and no branch should be removed without a reason. Common reasons for pruning are to remove dead branches, to improve form, and to reduce risk. Trees may also be pruned to increase light and air penetration to the inside of the tree’s crown or to the landscape below. In most cases, mature trees are pruned as corrective or preventive measures. Routine thinning does not necessarily improve the health of a tree. Trees produce a dense crown of leaves to manufacture the sugar used as energy for growth and development. Removal of foliage through pruning can reduce growth and stored energy reserves. Heavy pruning can be a significant health stress for the tree. There are many outside considerations, however, that make it necessary to prune trees. Safety, clearance, and compatibility with other components of a landscape are all major concerns. Proper pruning, with an understanding of tree biology, can maintain good tree health and structure while enhancing the aesthetic and economic values of our landscapes.

Tree Removal

There are many factors to be considered when removing a tree. Does the tree pose a hazard that cannot be mitigated by pruning or deadwooding? Has the tree out grown the space where it was planted, and now is threatening property or other trees? Has the tree grown in a place that is undesirable? We will work with the client to address all concerns and determine what is the best course of action for the tree and the home owner. Tree removal is dangerous and poses many potential hazards and should therefore only be removed by a professional Certified Arborist.   We have multiple techniques and experience available to us to make the task as safe and efficient as possible.

Stump Grinding

When a tree is removed, there is always a stump left over.  Aside from being aesthetically unpleasant, stumps can become a tripping hazard and can cause aggressive suckering regrowth. Stumps can also negatively affect the plants living around them by crowding them out, and should in most cases be removed. Our experienced team at Skylark Tree Care can help you remove the often large and heavy stumps for good. We do this by using the right equipment, and honed skills.

Tree Planting

Planting a tree is an important investment (it has been said: The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago the second best time is NOW!). Having tree planting done right the first time is vital to the health and vitality of the tree as it grows and matures. Often times tress in the urban landscape are planted to deep or are also an incompatible species for the landscape and soil type. Our Certified Arborist can help you determine what species is best for your vision and landscape.

Brush Chipping

The process of turning branches debris into bio-degradable wood chips. That can be used for mulching garden beds, tree planting and dog runs.
